The State of New Jersey has encouraged towns to do estimated tax bills because of the delay in the certification of tax rates due to COVID-19.
The Township of Hanover will be mailing out tax bills twice this year. The first bill will be an estimated 3rd quarter tax bill which will be due August 1, 2020. There is a 10-day grace period for the 3rd quarter. All payments received after August 10th will receive interest back to August 1st.
Once the final rate is certified by the County a final tax bill for the November 1st tax quarter and the preliminary tax bills for the first and second quarters due February 1st and May 1st of 2021 will be mailed.

Because the COVID-19 pandemic is anticipated to negatively impact the State economy, the New Jersey Department of Treasury has frozen portions of spending. Regrettably, this includes freezing funding to support the Homestead Benefit Credit that would have been applied to the May 1st, 2020 property tax payment.
