LEGAL NOTICE

REVISED TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE MEETING FORMAT FOR AN

IN-PERSON REGULAR PUBLIC MEETING WITH REMOTE CALL-IN OPTION 

AND IN-PERSON CLOSED EXECUTIVE LEGAL SESSION 

AT THE HANOVER TOWNSHIP MUNICIPAL BUILDING ON 

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2020

 

            PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, that in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act, N.J.S.A. 10:4-6 et seq., including N.J.S.A. 10:4-8(b), which authorizes the use of communications equipment to hold public meetings, and in consideration of New Jersey’s ongoing State of Emergency, the Township of Hanover hereby notifies the public that the Township Committee will hold its next regularly scheduled public meeting in person with social distancing requirements in place, and with a call-in option to participate remotely. The meeting will be held in the Main Meeting Room at the Municipal Building, located at 1000 Route 10, Whippany on Thursday evening, September 10, 2020, starting at 6:30 PM. To comply with social distancing requirements established by the Governor through Executive Order, the number of people permitted in the Main Meeting Room will be limited to 22 individuals, which is 25% of the maximum seating capacity. Of those 22 persons, 14 comprise the Township Committee and staff, leaving a total of 8 members of the public who can be present.

        To reserve a seat on a first-come, first-served basis, the Township has established a sign-in module on its website. Alternatively, members of the public who wish to attend remotely may do so by calling the Township’s dial-in number as follows when the meeting is open to the public:

            During the public session, members of the public will be muted until the public comment portion of the meeting is opened, and then unmuted to allow for public comment.  Please note that while muted, the public will still be able to hear the governing body conduct business.  The public portion will be opened by the Business Administrator following the conclusion of formal business. Once the public portion is concluded, the public will again be muted for the duration of the meeting.

Members of the public who are unable to attend the regular meeting in person or remotely due to a disability may submit written comments or questions by contacting the Business Administrator/Township Clerk at jgiorgio@hanovertownship.com prior to the meeting, up until 4:00 PM on September 10, 2020.  The comments or questions, which must include the individual’s name and address, will become part of the meeting record.

          Prior to the regular public meeting, the Township Committee will hold an in-person, closed, executive legal session to discuss time-sensitive legal matters with the Township Attorney as authorized by N.J.S.A. 10:4-12.  This meeting will also take place in the Main Meeting Room starting at 5:00 p.m.  The public will not be permitted to attend.
