Who can be a Life Skill
participant?
Any
Hanover
Township
resident entering 9th or 10th grade who has never worked
with the Summer Plus program. These
participants will pay a fee of $140 to be a part of the program and receive
training in CPR, First Aid, Blood Pathogen, and a Red Cross babysitting course.
Who can be a Student Volunteer?
Any
Hanover
Township
resident who has been a life skill participant with the Summer Plus program for
at least one year. Since these
participants have been through the Life Skills program, there is no fee.
However, participants must attend a Blood Pathogen course.
Why participate in this
program?
This
program provides an opportunity for future leaders to gain valuable experience
assisting staff and working with children in a safe and fun environment.
What does the position entail?
Life
Skill and Student Volunteer participants will be assigned to a group of campers
(determined by their age) and shadow
the duties of the head and assistant counselor of each group.
Participants will not be left solely in charge of campers at any time.
While on site, they will help organize games and activities both indoors
and outdoors, as well as assist with art and drama activities.
Also, all participants will attend the Bee Meadow Pool and the Hanover
Lanes bowling Alley throughout the six-week program.
However, participants will not attend any additional trips and should
report to their assigned site on all days. Participants
will be evaluated weekly by their head counselor and assistant director(s).
How
do I apply for these programs?
Registration Information:
Registration for the Life Skill and Student Volunteer
program will be held at the Community Center on the following three dates: April
26th, May 3rd, and May 4th.
PAID
SUMMER PLUS STAFF POSITIONS
Who
can apply for a paid position?
In
order to apply for a paid position, one must be entering junior year in Sept.
2008 or be 16 years of age. However,
if participants have had two years of training in our program as a life skill
and/or student volunteer, they are able to apply for a paid staff position.
Other
daily responsibilities include:

Arriving at site by 8:30
a.m. and leaving at 1:00 p.m.
·
Being present at camp for
the entire
six-week program
·
Wearing the assigned
T-shirt and sneakers (T-shirts handed out at registration)
·
Aiding head/assistant
counselors and site directors when needed

SUMMER BASKETBALL CAMP 2008
A
comprehensive training camp for 4th through 9th graders held at Whippany Park
High School.
Boys
Camp: July 7 - 11 from 9:00AM - 3:00PM
Girls
Camp: July 14 - 18 from 9:00AM - 3:00PM
Cost:
$180
Head
Coaches: Jeff Kleinbaum and Tom Wilson
Other
instructors include members of the WPHS Basketball Team
All
Campers will receive a shirt, trophy, and be provided with water daily.
