CURRENT PROGRAMS
Senior Fitness:
Fitness Classes at the Township of Hanover’s
Community Center are held every Tuesday and Thursday morning
9:30am-10:30am September-May. This class is one hour of mild
exercise, stretching and toning for residents 60 years of age and
older. The fee is $30. Questions? Call the Hanover Recreation

Blood Pressure Screening:
The Township of Hanover Health Department
offers a monthly Blood Pressure Screening Clinic the 1st
Wednesday of every month (September – June) from 1pm – 3pm in the
Quiet Room of the Township of Hanover Community Center 15 North
Jefferson Road, Whippany. All residents over the age of 18 years
are welcome to attend.
Dial
A Ride:
The Township of Hanover offers Dial A Ride
services to Seniors and non-ambulatory disabled individuals. Door
to door service available for the following: #1 priority – medical
appointments, #2 priority – food shopping, the second Thursday of
the month is a mall trip (except January – April). Reservations are
required 48 hours in advance by calling the Dial A Ride office at
973-428-2498. Office hours are Monday – Friday 9am – 12pm. Vehicle
operation is Monday – Friday 9am – 3:30pm. Vehicle is handicapped
accessible.
Senior Club:
The Hanover Township Senior Club meets on
the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at the
Hanover Township Community Center located at 15 North Jefferson
Road, Whippany. Some meetings may be offsite. Click on either of

Health Department :
The
Township of Hanover Health Department offers educational programs.

The Township of Hanover Health Department
will present the program “Put it in Writing – What You Need to Know
about Living Wills” upon request, please call 973-515-6641. Living
Wills along with a trusted person to make decisions allow a patient
to determine what and how much medical care will be provided for
him/her. Participants will look at what has been learned from the
Schiavo case and will determine what is best for them.
Whippanong Library:
The Whippanong Library hosts many
interesting programs, interactive, as well as educational. Please

Friendship at Heart Programs:
The Friendship at Heart Programs are
co-sponsored by the County of Morris, Department of Human Services,
Division on Aging, Disabilities and Veterans Services. These
programs include the Telephone Reassurance Program, Friendly Visitor
Program and Phone Buddies Program. These programs are free for all

Food
Pantry
The Interfaith Food Pantry located at 540
West Hanover Avenue in Morristown serves residents of Morris
County. You must apply to find out if you qualify. Click on the

Nutrition Sites / Meals on Wheels
The Morris County Senior Nutrition Program
serves nutritious noontime meals and provides the opportunity to
socialize with others at various nutrition sites. Click on the

Sites are open from 9am – 2pm with meals
served around 12 noon. There is no charge for the meals, but a
small donation ($2.00) is suggested. Reservations are required 24
hours in advance by calling the specific site. Meals on Wheels
delivers meals for homebound seniors. For meals on wheels
arrangements please call 973-285-6856.
S.H.I.P. (State Health Insurance Program):
The New Jersey Health Insurance Assistance
Program (SHIP) provides FREE help to New Jersey Medicare
beneficiaries who need assistance with their health insurance.
Counselors are available at sites in all 21 counties. For more
information call 1-800-792-8820.

Helps:
NJ Helps is a free and easy guide for you to
determine what programs and assistance for which you and your family
may be eligible. NJ Helps will tell you where to go for help and
what to bring with you, after you have answered a few basic
questions. NJ Helps cannot guarantee that you qualify for these
programs. You must still apply for help by contacting and filling
out the required forms for each program. Information includes but
is not limited to: Medicaid, Medicare and Medicare Savings, Food
Stamps, Senior Gold Prescription Discount Program, Pharmaceutical
Assistance to the Aged and Disabled (PAAD), Hearing Aid Assistance
to the Aged and Disabled (HAAAD), Jersey Assistance for Community
Caregiving (JACC), Senior Freeze – Property Tax Relief, Global
Options (GO) for Long Term Care, Low Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP),
