Hanover Township Recreation Provides Summer Fun in 2021

Hanover Township Recreation brings back favorite summer programs redesigned for the Summer of 2021! Each of these popular programs has been revamped to provide outstanding summer fun, projects, and activities in a safe environment.

The New Jersey State Department of Health and COVID-19 guidelines change frequently. These guidelines include gathering numbers, social distancing recommendations, and mask mandates. We will update you on changes as we receive them and modify our procedures accordingly.

In order to provide you with the all the information you will need to register, a detailed flier will be available the week of April 12, 2021. You are also invited to a ZOOM information call on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. Details to follow.

In the meantime, here is the basic information you will need.

On Monday, May 3, 2021 registration opens for:

Summer Plus Playground Program is a 6-week program for students entering grades 1 through 6 in September 2021.

  • The program runs from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday from Monday, June 28, 2021 through Friday, August 6, 2021.
  • Participants can register for a single two-week session, all 3 two-week sessions, or any combination of two-week sessions.
  • Activities include arts and crafts, sports, games, special events and a weekly visit to the Bee Meadow Pool.
  • U. S. Sports Institute will provide all participants quality sports training two days a week. Sports include tennis, soccer, and kickball.

What’s different this year?

Due to COVID-19 guidelines, the program is limited to 60 participants in each session. Participants will be grouped by grade with no more than 10 participants in a group with a minimum of one adult leader and two trained counselors.

Due to COVID 19 Guidelines, Hanover Township Recreation will be holding its program outdoors at Black Brook Park located 40 Sunset Drive in Whippany. The park is large enough to accommodate dozens of participants while providing more than adequate space for social distancing. There will be tents to provide shelter from light rain or strong sunshine.

In case of rain on special event days, the program will move to The Hanover Township Community Center. In case of rain on a pool day, the camper will receive a voucher to go to the Bee Meadow Pool on another day.

In case of heavy rain or any other severe weather event, the camp will be canceled for the day.

There is no refund for cancellations due to the weather.
